Good day ,
If you're not happy with what you've got, what radical changes are you willing to make to change what you're getting? That was the question asked by the marketing guru, Seth Godin, in one of his blog posts some years ago.
The challenges that come with running a business can be daunting. Sometimes, it is our personal lives that seem to be tearing apart. However, what we need to do is not to allow the situation overwhelms us, but embrace the necessary change and expect a turnaround.
Change, especially the one that offers growth opportunities, is hard. Individuals or businesses don't go through it smiling or without pain. That is why it is important we know how to drive radical change successfully.
Successful transformational change of any kind requires strategy. Every genuine change is a product of smart thinking and planning, and deliberate efforts and actions. Nobody can go from good to great by wishful thinking.
First, it is important to set clear aspirational goals for the change we want. Why and where does your company desire a change? Do you want a transformed organizational culture? Are you looking for ways to reduce costs or build capabilities? Maybe the ability to create new products has become a challenge. A clear mandate must be set or else everything becomes a futile effort.
Another thing, don't reduce change to a mere slogan. The ideas, energy, and involvement required to make it happen must be evident across the organisation. Words do not birth transformation without knowledge, commitment and hard work.
Change also occurs when there is a readiness to let go of the familiar. There is a story in the business world about how Xerox built the first Personal computer called Xerox Alto in 1973 but failed to push the invention into the market. Maybe, the photocopier company would have been bigger today than the likes of IBM, Microsoft, and Apple.
Remember that things don't change until people are willing to change!
Cheers,
